Dec 2021 - Jan 2022

Just as we thought the Covid-19 pandemic was slowly falling back, there comes the new variants Delta and the Omicron, once again sending every one back for cover. It did affect a lot of schedules, but we are sure we will overcome this one too. According to news reports, many countries are slowly lifting the pandemic related restrictions and we sincerely hope everything returns to normal very soon once again.

In this issue, we talk about storage tank and tank farm coatings, a subject not much discussed about. No matter what a storage tank contains, whether it is made of steel or concrete, or whether it is a large tank or a tank farm used for storage of oil and / or petrochemical products or simply a truck tanker, rail car tankers, sea-faring cargo tankers, or potable water tanks, or bulk dry-storage tanks, corrosion and corrosion under insulation (CUI) have been a costly, perennial problem. With asset utilization critical, and community and regulatory pressure always looming, it is essential that tank farm owners proactively prevent any loss of containment with reliable, cost-effective corrosion protection. Fortunately, by addressing a few important considerations regarding corrosion, utility owners can stop corrosion and CUI for years to dramatically extend tank and pipe service life. In doing so, they can also improve safety, reduce downtime and expedite maintenance turnaround.

The pipe and tank coatings market is expected to witness market growth at a rate of 4.84% in the forecast period of 2021 to 2028 and is expected to reach USD 16.30 billion by 2028, notes a recently released Data Bridge Market Research press release. The rising demand for energy across the globe is escalating the growth of pipe and tank coatings market.

All the leading paints and coating manufacturers are constantly innovating and introducing new products into the market to target this segment. We discuss a few of these in this issue, and yes this besides all our regular features and columns.

Here’s once again wishing all our readers, advertisers and well-wishers a great and safe New Year ahead!!!
